Beer Casks

Casks are beer storage and serving containers. Beer in a cask is always conditioned in a cask, and is not pasteurized. Beer in a keg is artificially conditioned using synthetic pressurized CO2 (or N2).

The shelf life of a tapped cask of beer may range from a couple days to a couple weeks.

A firkin is a specific volume size of cask that holds 41 Liters (3.8 gallons) of beer.
